Compatibility
Liwu's official release requires Apple Silicon (arm64) and macOS 14.0 or later. It is built for M-series MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models, not Intel or desktop Macs.
Facts verified against Liwu 1.0.6 on July 27, 2026
Supported configuration
- MacBook Air or MacBook Pro with Apple Silicon (M-series).
- macOS 14.0 or later.
- Permission to approve Liwu as a background item in System Settings.
- One active charging controller at a time is recommended.
macOS charging controls
Optimized Battery Charging learns a routine and may delay charging past 80%; it is predictive rather than a fixed user-selected cap.
Starting with macOS Tahoe 26.4, Apple Silicon Macs also offer a built-in 80–100% Charge Limit. If that meets your needs, you may not need Liwu. Liwu is useful for limits below 80%, older supported macOS versions, and its additional automation and protection controls.
Runtime boundaries
| Liwu running | The signed helper applies the saved charge limit and enabled rules. |
|---|---|
| Mac sleeping | The active helper applies the configured sleep behavior. |
| Liwu explicitly quit | Normal macOS charging is restored and the helper stops. |
| Restart and sign-in | Reopen Liwu or use Launch at Login before expecting the limit to resume. |
| Mac shut down | Liwu is not running and makes no charging-control claim. |
| Two charging controllers | Their decisions can conflict; disable one controller and verify the result. |
Support boundary
SMC behavior can change with macOS and hardware revisions. Liwu does not claim support for Intel Macs, desktop Macs, operating systems below macOS 14, or hardware and system combinations that have not been verified.
