Privacy Policy

Liwu ("the App") is a battery-care tool that runs locally on your Mac. The App has no usage analytics or telemetry: it does not track your usage. When you buy Liwu Pro, we and a small number of service providers process a little purchase information, described below.

What we collect

• Your email address — provided when you buy Liwu Pro (through Paddle, our reseller). We store it together with that purchase's transaction ID, so we can deliver your license and let you recover it later (for example after reinstalling, or moving to a new Mac). We never use it for marketing.
• Your IP address and email address, briefly, when you use the recovery form — only to rate-limit abuse. These rate-limiting records expire within about ten minutes.
• Anonymous website analytics — page views, referrers, download and Buy Pro button clicks, and coarse visit data (approximate country, browser, operating system, and device type), collected by Vercel Web Analytics on liwu.app. CTA events contain only the button location and page language. It sets no cookies; to tell repeat visits apart within a single day it uses a short-lived hash derived from your request that rotates every 24 hours and that we can never tie back to you.

What we don't collect

• No payment card details — those are handled entirely by Paddle (see below).
• No hardware fingerprints, serial numbers, or other device information usable for tracking.
• No usage analytics, event tracking, or telemetry in the App itself. (The website, liwu.app, uses a cookieless, privacy-friendly analytics service, described above.)

Local operation and system permissions

Controlling charging requires system-level permission (writing to the SMC), performed by the App's local daemon. This process only controls charging on your device and never uploads any data to our servers.

Third parties we use

We keep the service small and use as few third parties as possible. These are all of them, with a link to each one's own privacy policy:

• Paddle — our reseller and merchant of record: legally, Paddle is the seller for your purchase. It handles payment and tax, and we never see or store your card. Paddle privacy policy
• Resend — delivers the activation and recovery emails, and so receives your email address and the link we send you. Resend privacy policy
• Upstash — stores the purchase record (your email address, the transaction ID and its date), the short-lived activation links, and the rate-limiting counters. Upstash privacy policy
• Vercel — hosts liwu.app and its APIs, and therefore handles the requests your browser and the App make to us, including IP addresses. It also runs Vercel Web Analytics on the website: a cookieless service that counts page views, referrers, download and Buy Pro button clicks, and derives coarse, aggregate data (approximate country, browser, operating system, device type). How long we keep things

• The purchase record (email address and transaction ID) is kept for as long as we sell and support Liwu Pro, so that license delivery and self-recovery keep working. You can ask us to delete it at any time.
• Activation links are one-time and short-lived: 15 minutes for a recovery link, 7 days for the link sent right after a purchase.
• Rate-limiting records (IP address, email address) expire within about ten minutes.
• Website analytics are kept only in aggregate and hold no identifier for you; the short-lived hash used to count unique daily visits is rotated every 24 hours and cannot be reassembled afterwards.

Your choices

You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, receive a copy of it, or object to our keeping it. Email support@liwu.app and we will handle it. Note that deleting your purchase record means you will no longer be able to recover your license yourself. Because Paddle is the seller for your purchase, requests about payment or invoicing data are best directed to Paddle as well.

Network activity

The App makes four kinds of network request, and these are all of them: it checks https://liwu.app/appcast.xml for a new version; it downloads the update itself from github.com (so GitHub sees your IP address when you install an update); it downloads https://liwu.app/revoked.json, a public list of revoked licenses that is the same file for everyone — the App never asks about your specific license; and, only after you buy Pro, it calls https://liwu.app/api/license/claim once to exchange a one-time token for your license. As with any web request these reveal your IP address and basic client information such as the app and operating-system version. They exist to deliver updates and your license — not to identify or track you. Your battery, usage, and configuration data never leave your Mac.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Liwu changes. The current version always lives on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top. If a change materially affects what we collect or who we share it with, we will say so clearly here rather than quietly editing the text.
